Albany Middle School (also known as AMS) is a public middle school in Albany, Louisiana. It is one of the Livingston Parish public middle schools. The football team is currently a four-time district champion in Livingston Parish, also in Louisiana. Students in Albany, Louisiana, Strawberry Lane in Hammond, Louisiana, and other smaller public streets south of Albany attend AMS.
Albany Middle School is the youngest of the Albany schools. The school teaches grades 5-8, a gym class, and a school band.

The current middle school building opened on March 1, 1995.[2]
Like all schools in Livingston Parish, AMS has a required dress code that was effective fall 2004. The school must wear a navy blue or white shirt that must be tucked into khaki colored pants/shorts/skorts/slacks with a belt. The AMS student must also wear matching socks and shoes.
Student groups and organizations at Albany Middle School include 4-H, Beta Club, cheerleading, FCS, library club, spirit squad, science club, and talent search.

The school band program was established around 2004. It includes a beginner band, an intermediate band, and an advanced band.
The Beginner band is composed of the fifth grader band students and/or students who were not in beginner band the previous year and would like to attend in music. They focus on playing simple instruments and simple music.
The recorder, one of the simple instruments is used in beginner band. The first half of the year they use recorders. After the holiday break, the Beginner Band start on advanced instruments. The students generally do not choose their instruments. The band teacher tests the students on each instrument and gives them the instrument that they were most natural with.
The intermediate band is composed of sixth grade band members and/or students that were in beginner band the previous year. They practice with the modern instruments (i.e. trumpet, flutes, etc.) and play more advanced music.
The advanced band is composed of seventh and eighth grade and/or students that improved a lot in beginner band and proved legible enough to challenge the Advance Band, (generally the Drums; Percussion.) They play advanced music, play modern instruments, and play at football and basketball games.
The intermediate and advanced bands do not use recorders. The AMS band has the Clarinets and Flutes in the front, then comes the brass instruments such as Saxophone, French Horn and Trumpets. Then there is the Brass bass (or low) players in the back such as the Baritone and Tuba. The percussion such as drums are behind the back row.
Beta Club is a club at AMS for students who receive invitations with their first report cards. However, new members (called inductees), have to go through a process in order to become a member. The club is also a nationwide club. The division at AMS is the Junior Division of Beta.[3]
